I know I said I was going to do one on Monday, but to be perfectly honest, I was just too tired after MCM. I'm only just feeling like I have actual energy and it's been a week. So I guess that means MCM is officially over for me.<br />
<br />
I had a real blast though, and I have loads to show you.<br />
<br />
First of all, my Ariel cosplay was a hit again and Vanessa even showed up to steal my voice!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Photo courtesy of Emski (need to get her cosplay page if she has one and then I'll link it here) who made the most beautiful, not to mention lovely, Vanessa I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This was on the first day.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The second day was Wonder Woman and my goodness does MCM love Wonder Woman! Oh and I made a lasso of truth last minute that I was able to hook to my costume on the day and it went down fabulously. People actually went mad for it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It's just yarn wrapped in yarn but it does the job and it looks cool. Main photo courtesy of <a href="https://www.facebook.com/elmosempirecosplay/?__mref=message_bubble">Elmos_Empire Cosplay</a> and secondary photos by a good con friend, Daisy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But the <i>third</i> day. Oh wow. I was in my comfiest cosplay yet, which is just as well because the group had a super long, super awesome photo shoot with <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d005_photography/albums/72157669151699135/with/26772805553/">Joseph Leeder</a>. I loved every minute of it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht3CAUaxogdb-8HtS_F4ct4znbBZTM0hHNv3_XOtERXsd37sMi2ku3mr18sAteOwm4q1VG506ABZ1w5krV94EwZK_NZsO2xGyFYJKP4kdK_44yonW5WeMCsFWwlaPL3eT1g7vLoq3PbGc/s1600/SG+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht3CAUaxogdb-8HtS_F4ct4znbBZTM0hHNv3_XOtERXsd37sMi2ku3mr18sAteOwm4q1VG506ABZ1w5krV94EwZK_NZsO2xGyFYJKP4kdK_44yonW5WeMCsFWwlaPL3eT1g7vLoq3PbGc/s640/SG+Collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next year is Hipster Squirrel Girl and I am already pretty much set...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There is a draw back to comic con though. You spend a <i>lot</i> of money. I focussed on indulging my kawaii side so that I can feel happy with my accessories and B+, because that's still important to me. In fact, I've even started my bentos again and dressing up for girl's nights in clothes I like. Because I like them. Okay the wig definitely helps me feel more confident but if that's what I need to B+ right now, I'm just gonna go with it. We'll all take baby-steps and eventually, plodding along, we'll get to a point where we are empowered, independent women! (Throw your hands up in the air...)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJYrolSz-zoHbX61RADOFHZ8K94tx5mG_kHEdub7zu4fb-GZyuke19TLTiyvF6Zuo0-DE0ZHAFXdMYTSaH7flCesgStzb5qswKWoCnljg-VlNySAoQ11QjGNI9Q9Izm0n2v22q4PZ4r_I/s1600/B%252B+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJYrolSz-zoHbX61RADOFHZ8K94tx5mG_kHEdub7zu4fb-GZyuke19TLTiyvF6Zuo0-DE0ZHAFXdMYTSaH7flCesgStzb5qswKWoCnljg-VlNySAoQ11QjGNI9Q9Izm0n2v22q4PZ4r_I/s640/B%252B+Collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm also experimenting with my style, and getting to grips with how I can get into lolita fashion, which I've always adored but never been able to wear due to my height. For now, it's a case of a few accessories and a bit of lace but this little outfit today has made me want to take it a step further and look at the possibility of making my own lolita dresses with matching chokers or hairbows.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8Wy3BhAODdLIVGDWrKKxMMd3ikmEmiIK7SODYEnRR7ssjw-5jH9WGfu6eFxZq_Y8EBpyl9oqRw5rd8UwNs85hM_WQMqoU1iqkqRhTbCSPvszTdnthdQOnSrV9jSNLFtNwV8vqsy5HmLc/s1600/13332870_1166067403456676_558503742724634274_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8Wy3BhAODdLIVGDWrKKxMMd3ikmEmiIK7SODYEnRR7ssjw-5jH9WGfu6eFxZq_Y8EBpyl9oqRw5rd8UwNs85hM_WQMqoU1iqkqRhTbCSPvszTdnthdQOnSrV9jSNLFtNwV8vqsy5HmLc/s640/13332870_1166067403456676_558503742724634274_n.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I don't want to overload you guys since I've been away for a while and most of this isn't crafty, so I'll get back to making things again soon now that con is over. This will hopefully include my cosplays for October MCM, a cosplay for my boyfriend for October MCM and a lolita dress for Christmas Hyper Japan.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Oh, I'm also recording vlogs, which need editing, so they should be fun!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Until next time!</div>

<br />
I hate missing a blog entry but if you follow my Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, you'll know that I've been very ill for over a week and that's why my internet self disappeared off the face of the earth for a bit. My bad.<br />
<br />
But I've been prescribed the right medication by a lovely doctor in A&E during the early hours of Saturday morning and I feel <b>over 9,000</b> times better already. Seriously. Thank you lovely doctor in A&E.<br />
<br />
Until then, all I'd really managed to do between my last entry and Saturday afternoon that was arts and crafts related, was one page of colouring in. (I felt that bad.) I did make it interesting though by nipping onto my <a href="https://uk.pinterest.com/beckitsboutique/colour-schemes/">Pinterest colour scheme board</a> (there's some really nice ones on there) and selecting one to stick to. I chose the one below for a floral colouring page as there weren't too many different colours but it wasn't just tonal either. A nice little mix.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlofkA9FGSjQO-FInC6-ts7DLbxDW93Gs0tSc-c_Y9FguOqlJLXHyt8onFm6RAUAVM7-0Efe8miAf79bmLAgp_6y4w-yRdVrSUrIx74qdqesRKEAPEL8pc_vSBkqBQKyDkabYlw7Vbu4U/s1600/Purple+and+teal.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlofkA9FGSjQO-FInC6-ts7DLbxDW93Gs0tSc-c_Y9FguOqlJLXHyt8onFm6RAUAVM7-0Efe8miAf79bmLAgp_6y4w-yRdVrSUrIx74qdqesRKEAPEL8pc_vSBkqBQKyDkabYlw7Vbu4U/s320/Purple+and+teal.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I love these colour schemes because for some reason I find it extremely satisfying seeing the inspiration behind choosing those co-ordinating colours and being able to witness just how well they co-ordinate. Plus, ice cream. Yum.<br />
<br />
So I picked out my six matching coloured pencils and challenged myself to use <b>all</b> of those particular pencils but <b>no</b> others on the entire page.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately the beige colour isn't overly visible on the page but I <b>did</b> use it, I swear. I just had to shade it with the brown because it was so pale.<br />
<br />
It went quite well and the colours suited the picture nicely. I'm also really pleased with the pencils which were a Christmas present, as they shade just <b>beautifully</b>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3KA5Or5upCn0spdABlfjRNo4D-l0R1mo6FyGI8Yt48fhQf_A2cTWdOLn0kEFmXpdXf146gMrUEqZSSRErUR0Nvm7HyJRvBDje4xumpXeTVwBedndBs6fDC_48C7H7Wkv2p183OrbGXao/s1600/Colouring.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3KA5Or5upCn0spdABlfjRNo4D-l0R1mo6FyGI8Yt48fhQf_A2cTWdOLn0kEFmXpdXf146gMrUEqZSSRErUR0Nvm7HyJRvBDje4xumpXeTVwBedndBs6fDC_48C7H7Wkv2p183OrbGXao/s640/Colouring.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Luckily that's not all I have to post today though. Otherwise that would be a <b>very</b> short blog entry.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I can now show you the card and present I made for my sister's birthday earlier on this month, which I couldn't post in my last entry as she hadn't yet seen them!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwuK2Zj7K8hzY2QlaNkfleH-gt410Xct0hMk1TK4YwU3y9Fc79_fT_F-cnNSFTN-SK6buv36C0LWcavPzdIQ5JXXuzKC5DjFyA65Vlx5QSVVNEfiM79-eVw810C9wbQjkNfgSVWrA-Cmk/s1600/Birthday+it+is.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="192" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwuK2Zj7K8hzY2QlaNkfleH-gt410Xct0hMk1TK4YwU3y9Fc79_fT_F-cnNSFTN-SK6buv36C0LWcavPzdIQ5JXXuzKC5DjFyA65Vlx5QSVVNEfiM79-eVw810C9wbQjkNfgSVWrA-Cmk/s320/Birthday+it+is.jpg" width="320" /></a>The card had to be quick and simple because unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time to make it. So when I saw some Star Wars wrapping paper on my way home from a walk the day before, I grabbed it. It was used to wrap her gift <b>and</b> make this adorable card! I simply cut out a panel of black card and stuck it to a base before adding the cut out Yoda using 3d foam pads. A few hand drawn stars and sentiment in white ink and then some sequin stars stuck on with more foam pads, 10 minutes later you've got your super cute card. Woohoo!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The present took me longer. I bought a plain black sketchbook from Paperchase and used masking tape to cover an area to form my sister's nickname. I followed a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RMqVdYMgBw">tutorial</a> I found on Pinterest to create the galaxy design over the top, peeled away the tape and then outlined the letters with a white gel pen just to make them really <b>pop</b> and was left with a really cool, personalised sketchbook for my sister, who is always drawing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxoNs2gFovp2CMd8ngZGmYekycBzHJhn7s2d09T8C-5deUPUExW3CErWvw5taGOLOmyDjLCSw4Nlok12Pk4PsQNRE9q9AekNBrMMCgBLueecJbzKpzIDN2-g2TIo31ByunX5vqMtTwo9k/s1600/Mazzy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxoNs2gFovp2CMd8ngZGmYekycBzHJhn7s2d09T8C-5deUPUExW3CErWvw5taGOLOmyDjLCSw4Nlok12Pk4PsQNRE9q9AekNBrMMCgBLueecJbzKpzIDN2-g2TIo31ByunX5vqMtTwo9k/s640/Mazzy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And since I am feeling <b>over 9,000 </b>times better today, I started work on two projects this afternoon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The first was the second of my romantic book quotes for the bedroom in the same theme as my Harry Potter one. I even have a webcam as of today so this whole project was recorded and will have a timelapse video posted in the (hopefully) near future.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidowFYvHXudCOklh8NkBIbuJppOoczmvN9aowCRqjPspqRlME9OfNOcT3YXw4_8-7imKGqXJkre75mPs1bAlFiGUukLUKkfjKvofuEojQcoqwVan0kEQg7KOcJW3d59sjU1GVXEDWItCw/s1600/Real+or+not+real.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="384" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidowFYvHXudCOklh8NkBIbuJppOoczmvN9aowCRqjPspqRlME9OfNOcT3YXw4_8-7imKGqXJkre75mPs1bAlFiGUukLUKkfjKvofuEojQcoqwVan0kEQg7KOcJW3d59sjU1GVXEDWItCw/s640/Real+or+not+real.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had a lot of fun making this one. Both the quotes I've featured make me cry buckets and I'm just really glad I was actually able to write them nicely enough to feel proud displaying them on my walls.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The second project I started working on today was inspired by these <b>fantastic</b> <a href="https://www.buzzfeed.com/margaretjung/get-in-touch-with-your-green-thumb-with-these-diy-felt-succu?utm_term=.vsEpb8L8W#.kpd6bm2mx">felt succulent plants</a> I came across on Facebook as I scrolled down my newsfeed. I like plants but I can't keep them alive and I find succulents particularly beautiful in a strange way, so there was no way I wasn't going to try and make these!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJmYd1VWCOzU7NPqJGODUiZGopRf8Awbg40MYZPXjeyBamikqe1v9h1pBEeFiQf58Xap3ejJQbKI0AM-HT3r7uRfj9I-xR6aefdHSJehfMfkovO4QV6fE0xZz4L278QP0rcCVf-WOA1Uk/s1600/Succulents.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJmYd1VWCOzU7NPqJGODUiZGopRf8Awbg40MYZPXjeyBamikqe1v9h1pBEeFiQf58Xap3ejJQbKI0AM-HT3r7uRfj9I-xR6aefdHSJehfMfkovO4QV6fE0xZz4L278QP0rcCVf-WOA1Uk/s640/Succulents.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The box frame is a little cheapy from The Range which I took apart, removing the glass and then gluing the rest of the componants back into place so they don't shift around. To make sure the background was <b>super sparkly,</b> just in case any shows through once I'm done adding succulents, I filled the frame with PVA and then just poured in a whole load of gold glitter.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
No crafter's stash is complete without glitter. I'm just impressed I didn't get it everywhere. It normally goes <b>everywhere,</b> so well done to me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
While I wait for the glue to dry so it's safe for me to tip out the excess glitter (which is probably when it will go everywhere) I decided to start work on my first succulent.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I just like a little extra detail and feel like beads make really pretty centre points.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I stopped after two layers of petals because I may be feeling a lot better, but I'm still not quite 100% and I don't want to overdo it. Plus silicone glue <b>really</b> smells so I wanted to call it a night.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That's all for now but I want to take this opportunity to say that next week's blog entry will be posted on <b>Monday </b>instead as I'm going to be at MCM <b>all</b> weekend!</div>

Expect a loot post people!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In the meantime, feel free to check out my <a href="https://uk.pinterest.com/beckitsboutique/">Pinterest</a>, I find and save plenty of really cool projects, some of which I'll never get round to making but love the idea of, so if you're crafty like me, it might be a great spot to find some inspiration for <b>your</b> next make!</div>

The folks at <a href="http://www.darksidecomics.co.uk/">Darkside</a> for Free Comic Book Day loved her, so she should go down well at MCM in a couple of weeks!<br />
<br />
So we're starting today on a happy note, and I have been very busy. I've finished off the Ariel hoop for my "I'd Rather Be A Mermaid" giveaway. The finished piece and my beautiful winner can be seen below!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also got the Wonder Woman hoop done for my "Fight Like A Girl" giveaway, which can be viewed with my wonderful winner below!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am definitely going to be making more projects in this style (once I've got some more embroidery hoops) because not only were they fantastic fun to make but I think they look really great.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That's not all I've been up to though... After all, I'm <i>Always</i> crafting. Heh. Heheh.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This post is getting pretty pic heavy so I'll try to keep the last few bits short and sweet, I just wanted the above image to be viewed at a decent size because I think it's really beautiful. I'm still making my flat seem more like home, tweeking here and there and the bedroom is the feminine space since the living room is more masculine because that's where the boy spends most of his time. So I'll be moving the two Halo canvas prints from the bedroom into the living room. Which means I'll have nothing on the walls in the bedroom apart from the shelves and memo board (<a href="http://beckitsboutique.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/note-to-self.html">that's an old one!</a>) around my dressing table. Dun dun DUNNNN. The above was my solution, subtly geeky, romantic quotes to hang on the wall in pastel colours. The boy even got to choose the frames we'll be using. This is one of two that I have planned. The second will be "You love me, real or not real? Real." from Hunger Games because I cried literally buckets. That one will have a Mockingjay on it in place of the doe.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also just realised that I never posted the finished Sailor Moon compact embroidery hoops or the finished badger birthday postcards on this blog! Shock horror! So here they are to finish off this week's entry with a much more confident Wondy! (Judy Hopps cosplay by <a href="https://www.facebook.com/lunariscosplays/?fref=ts">Lunaris Cosplay</a>.)</div>

Have a great week guys, you have my sister's birthday present and some other small bits and pieces to look forward to next week that I'm unable to post yet because I want the recipients to see them first but I'm sure I'll be feeling crafty between now and next Sunday too. If you're interested in sneak peeks and more frequent updates check out my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/BeckitsBoutique/">Facebook</a> or my brand new <a href="https://www.instagram.com/beckits.boutique/">Instagram </a>and recently renewed <a href="https://twitter.com/BeckitsBoutique">Twitter </a>pages. I'm getting super good at this whole social media thing! I'll try not to be so image heavy next week too.</div>

<br />
As you'll all know from my last post, I wore my newly made Wonder Woman costume around Chelmsford Town Centre yesterday to promote Free Comic Book Day at <a href="http://www.darksidecomics.co.uk/">Dark Side Comics</a> and my own <a href="https://www.facebook.com/BeckitsBoutique/">Facebook</a> page's giveaway so I could help out a friend and try and gain enough followers to set up my Etsy properly. I had business cards printed up for it and everything and I was <b>so</b> excited!<br />
<br />
I have serious confidence issues and insecurities though and I've only recently learned how to cope with my anxieties, so wearing a skimpy cosplay in public was <i>terrifying </i>to me. As much as I thought it looked great and my friends agreed, I knew from past experience, from growing up being told by my peers that I was fat and disgusting, that there would be a lot of negative comments.<br />
<br />
I went anyway.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrz2xi7Hi2T-L8GEiFSSpt6DVYorwhF-xM7zRIqyYpgjQcQaqXRUDKCn5i-ksaIsZBalkKM3o-faaein31hhwO-H-uUdUn9Xz_wyOkYhvV7JHQnNbCmAA8PU8rkf56IrS0wwyeWPVePk0/s1600/13064560_1142395512490532_1240897326826847662_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrz2xi7Hi2T-L8GEiFSSpt6DVYorwhF-xM7zRIqyYpgjQcQaqXRUDKCn5i-ksaIsZBalkKM3o-faaein31hhwO-H-uUdUn9Xz_wyOkYhvV7JHQnNbCmAA8PU8rkf56IrS0wwyeWPVePk0/s320/13064560_1142395512490532_1240897326826847662_o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Some comments made were nice, some people liked seeing their classic heroine out in town, some wanted selfies and were interested in <i>Beckit's Boutique </i>as well as Dark Side.<br />
<br />
But they were few and far between. And though most comments and sniggers were quiet, I heard them. I've spent my entire life overhearing them because my ears are now acutely attuned to pick up certain words, phrases and sounds. Some weren't even quiet. And for the uptight, bigoted lady that felt the need to yell "Excuse me, there are small children around!" at me, I have a special question for you; <b>For a start, there are no small children with you, so how does this affect you? Secondly, I was wearing a lot more than a bikini, what do you do with your non-existant children when you go to the beach, bury their heads in the sand?</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
The rest of you, I'm used to it, so I can take a few emotional blows as long as I have someone with me, which thankfully I did, but well done for crushing my spirit a little bit and sending me fleeing back to the shop feeling awful and ridiculous. You're so <b>hard</b>.<br />
<br />
I write all this because it's important that people are aware that not everyone will defend you, or comfort you when horrible things are said about something you've put a lot of time and effort into. And I'm not just talking about my cosplay. I run at least 5k at least three times a week to keep fit. I'm currently in the process of losing weight and trying to make myself more confident. This is a long, tiring process that takes a lot of hard work and dedication. I have run four virtual races of varying lengths for charity so far this year and just signed up for four more virtuals and a live race in the next few months, one of which is a half marathon, which I intend to run the entirety of.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
I have worked tirelessly to improve myself and feel better in the skin I'm in and you all <b>shot me down!</b> Well done. Very impressive. Your parents must all be so proud.<br />
<br />
But this post is B+.<br />
<br />
<b>Be. Positive.</b><br />
<br />
And it's about to <b>really </b>B+!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I didn't know this girl. At all. Never met her in my life. I don't even recall passing her yesterday as there were so many people. But she is <b>my</b> Wonder Woman.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As soon as I'd got back to the shop, I'd rushed into the bathroom to change and was nearly in tears because I felt so awful about some of the things said about me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Meanwhile, this beautiful human being took to Facebook (guessing my dress size perfectly I might add) in the hopes this message would get to me. Another friend of Dark Side's owner saw it and automatically connected the two events. I saw it the moment I got out of the bathroom and immediately welled up again.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A perfect stranger had come to my rescue when I needed it and as soon as this post started getting shared, comments came flooding in.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
(Gotta love my mum for not taking the route of "well you can't go around dressed like that" as most parents would.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As did the private messages from both friends and family who understood how difficult something like that had been for me to do and that I'd done it because I will do anything to help a friend and because I like to make other people happy. I would be happy if I saw <b>my</b> favourite super hero in town!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNbaGyA2EIGRd3-kTKA4-TDP7oB1cD-4lMxCtSpvyrdO5qED-dG267Pc8kIQNbl0iW-hXyB89BWHRV9yHyNK-8xLuwRdW4aJx2fwVpq7ySahY0CX4in-iMzkWzGXansGIxX1bXCUCH36c/s1600/BeFunky+Collagemess.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="262" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNbaGyA2EIGRd3-kTKA4-TDP7oB1cD-4lMxCtSpvyrdO5qED-dG267Pc8kIQNbl0iW-hXyB89BWHRV9yHyNK-8xLuwRdW4aJx2fwVpq7ySahY0CX4in-iMzkWzGXansGIxX1bXCUCH36c/s640/BeFunky+Collagemess.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
(This isn't all of them by the way, there were far too many to keep screenshotting and censoring, I'd have been here all night.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And suddenly everything was brighter, everything was better, because although some people put me down, there were <b>so many more</b> right there to pick me back up.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I've gone from cowering by a toilet, hating myself and vowing to never wear a skimpy cosplay again, to being unimaginably excited to wear it at comic con in a few weeks. There will be like-minded people there who would <b>love</b> to meet Wonder Woman and I can't wait to meet <b>them</b>!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So whenever something seems awful. Please, <b>be positive </b>because there may just be a perfect stranger out there who thinks you're <b>amazing</b>! I know I do!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Until next time!</div>

<br />
Today I have quite a lot to bring you guys, and it <b>all</b> happened in the last 24 hours.<br />
<br />
First of all, if you follow my Facebook page, you'll have noticed that I did a little giveaway yesterday while cosplaying Ariel to help promote free comic book day at Darkside comics in Chelmsford. Below is the prize design and progress for the winner of the giveaway. Themed to match, of course!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHVqDMHrryhZrycBshhRCnnb30Aq0rBL_PxPcln3UHfNHW6PjysJrL93DISDs2bz6TYR9LaldkEeegCGAplRvqV-4CwFqHup8h4w6pf2cqmUlsJmlGcWhw-ym0UrDA1Tme5vqBTs-zSmg/s1600/BeFunky+Collage+ariel.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHVqDMHrryhZrycBshhRCnnb30Aq0rBL_PxPcln3UHfNHW6PjysJrL93DISDs2bz6TYR9LaldkEeegCGAplRvqV-4CwFqHup8h4w6pf2cqmUlsJmlGcWhw-ym0UrDA1Tme5vqBTs-zSmg/s640/BeFunky+Collage+ariel.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you missed out on this one but you're in the Chelmsford area next weekend, you'll have another chance to win! Next week I'll be Wonder Woman (again) so the prize hoop will be themed to match. The design work can be seen below.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMUhTDfvZKba0J2azF9pixHftCmGkIkdOHcy9NtCIYhGD8jgHEjhVRFNFyDoIS3-8zmHERXxppoIzHIwgVOfb9ft_S_R1YrFeqdPEDlmXPog2aBgtbr6oa-THtgTMSgi8i4AfJwppRt-U/s1600/BeFunky+Collagehoop.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="374" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMUhTDfvZKba0J2azF9pixHftCmGkIkdOHcy9NtCIYhGD8jgHEjhVRFNFyDoIS3-8zmHERXxppoIzHIwgVOfb9ft_S_R1YrFeqdPEDlmXPog2aBgtbr6oa-THtgTMSgi8i4AfJwppRt-U/s640/BeFunky+Collagehoop.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But the papier mache Wonder Woman couldn't be worn again. So that meant I needed a new one. And I had some scrap fabrics and old leggings I was never going to wear lying at home, so I grabbed a red top in Primark yesterday ready to begin.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Low and behold, I started working on this cosplay at about noon today. <b><i>TODAY!!</i></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I made the <b>entire</b> cosplay below in a single day. All it's missing are the cuffs, which I will do in the week. Because to be fair, I think it's awesome enough I was able to make as much as I did in one day. Don't you think?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGZhG9YkmT7igzeaBEW2oU9WBwg3l9B9-YCmRTKBUNe0IRIgybhSoFWMa-zKDEfwC7bKThqusV1A0YxcIqBFCOIGxV4vrHZkc2nmBFzlcnGnaDa5JOoQQ_RJcSIOAjV0zTN26AbYuhyzU/s1600/BeFunky+Collage+WW.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGZhG9YkmT7igzeaBEW2oU9WBwg3l9B9-YCmRTKBUNe0IRIgybhSoFWMa-zKDEfwC7bKThqusV1A0YxcIqBFCOIGxV4vrHZkc2nmBFzlcnGnaDa5JOoQQ_RJcSIOAjV0zTN26AbYuhyzU/s640/BeFunky+Collage+WW.jpg" width="378" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I cannot wait to wear this cosplay next week and possibly at MCM in May. It's a bit skimpy but no worse than a strapless swimming costume so as long as I'm not alone while flyering, I'll be fine.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Besides, I think I actually look pretty darn rad! Plus now I know I'm pretty good at boot covers and creating my own random patterns, so hopefully Glitter Lucky will be ready in plenty of time for October's MCM!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Until next week!</div>

<br />Beckithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517112963948554828noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25916133852976144.post-20603427704737794232016-04-17T13:43:00.000-07:002016-04-17T13:43:46.244-07:00Suddenly SundayThis week's been pretty busy, unfortunately not so much with the crafting, but mainly with running. I had a race to train for, it went well, yay. But you don't want to hear about that, you want to read about what I've been <i>making</i>, right?<br />
<br />
I have done a couple of odd bits and pieces here and there in between going out running in my evenings and weekends.<br />
<br />
The first thing I made this week was a hand-lettered motivational plaque for one of the girls I work with. She loved it and I'm glad because this is my first time doing anything like it but I do hope to do a lot more in the future.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNZo8az5D0WskWQX02TC9gMG5P4LUEeeuskvloG8B9mX4B6sJj89p0un695aZpku_-3F1X3lrdI3MjZj_gpTBhnfSQ3I4JAtlTzSbahVxA9QxupR7fECWXjzB2agbifSoYfmG3zQLwkoM/s1600/BeFunky+Collage+plaque.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNZo8az5D0WskWQX02TC9gMG5P4LUEeeuskvloG8B9mX4B6sJj89p0un695aZpku_-3F1X3lrdI3MjZj_gpTBhnfSQ3I4JAtlTzSbahVxA9QxupR7fECWXjzB2agbifSoYfmG3zQLwkoM/s640/BeFunky+Collage+plaque.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have some weddings coming up shortly so I'm thinking something similar to this but obviously romance/love themed might make a nice little gift. Maybe.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next thing I worked on was making a start on some Hufflepuff themed postcards for the birthday card exchange for Hogwarts Running Club. This meant digging out my Christmas present from my sister and playing with chalk on the cards lucky enough to have embossed bits. (Sadly some don't as I only had very limited pre-embossed cardstock and no appropriate embossing folders to use. Never mind though, eh?)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPGKAPB2jwmX9x5wGvHQ-U0FbpMotzcIo8X8SXoOMLWCI6nu2JPFEysPJ1sEhLFnHpZ0WiM7LKxfDf88owECdHnHpEME_1fjIkP99p4tdjoDcPVuWQkgKFd4Ess_pqlDwfIGehU9sa1RM/s1600/BeFunky+Collage+chalk.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPGKAPB2jwmX9x5wGvHQ-U0FbpMotzcIo8X8SXoOMLWCI6nu2JPFEysPJ1sEhLFnHpZ0WiM7LKxfDf88owECdHnHpEME_1fjIkP99p4tdjoDcPVuWQkgKFd4Ess_pqlDwfIGehU9sa1RM/s640/BeFunky+Collage+chalk.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The chalks are really fun to use with the little pom-pom applicator things and I chose the yellow for the flowers so they were in house colours. I've since added green to the leaves and it looks really cool but I've not got any pictures of that yet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
At this point, I'd like to take the opportunity to post a whole bunch of cards I've made in recent months and just never got around to posting. Say hello to picture spam!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigy-2Hyj0nwZmauOI7o3l02gydy0Xby_cl9OxHT36tbO3j7n7UOg701yjbu8ZG9S2elnEA1eLQpivip_JrqxhjPEhq45fOvZ0waL90IspI5BKNsu_IvP1FVC_fpY1-9NHqVEzwQQzxzg0/s1600/BeFunky+Collage+cards.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigy-2Hyj0nwZmauOI7o3l02gydy0Xby_cl9OxHT36tbO3j7n7UOg701yjbu8ZG9S2elnEA1eLQpivip_JrqxhjPEhq45fOvZ0waL90IspI5BKNsu_IvP1FVC_fpY1-9NHqVEzwQQzxzg0/s640/BeFunky+Collage+cards.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You can probably guess what occassions most of these cards are for so I'm only going to go into detail on the big one. I was actually really proud of this card because I made a few of them as invitations to my "games night" birthday party, hence the theme. Sadly on the night everyone in attendance was super tired and we all kept nearly nodding off but it was really fun anyway and at least my invites were awesome.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The last little update I have to bring you is <i>cosplay related... </i>Hooray! Yes, you're probably going to see something cosplay related every week in the run up to MCM in May but you love it, so here it is.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My Tippy Pillow arrived, which means I got to add a pink ribbon and complete my Squirrel Girl in pajamas cosplay with my very own Tippy Toe!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikK-FFTQ_JI41geG9THXrkqW7K55mLgnWnd7kzw3bfqHpX4G76XvhIFuwhM7oQvYPsp87kN_605cdY0byGiUC9chR3UbCtEkXhQtZi_pVeIUk7yaVbhhClkFAsOVa4RCa5ZNz2uRG3w6A/s1600/BeFunky+Collage+tippy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikK-FFTQ_JI41geG9THXrkqW7K55mLgnWnd7kzw3bfqHpX4G76XvhIFuwhM7oQvYPsp87kN_605cdY0byGiUC9chR3UbCtEkXhQtZi_pVeIUk7yaVbhhClkFAsOVa4RCa5ZNz2uRG3w6A/s640/BeFunky+Collage+tippy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Isn't she <i>adorable?</i> She opens up so many possibilities for photo posing too. I can cuddle her, prop her on my shoulder, leave her round my neck, rest my head on her like I'm sleeping. <i>So many things</i>!! I love her. And it makes me incredibly happy to complete a cosplay with plenty of time to spare.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now I just have to get my butt into gear making Glitter Lucky.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Until next time!</div>

Which meant my sewing got delayed and it was dark outside by the time I got the machine out...<br />
<br />
Whoops.<br />
<br />
I was then very productive though and got my Squirrel Girl costume finished and tried on, all except Tippy Pillow (I do hope she comes soon just because I love a finishing touch to a cosplay) and I'm really happy with the results!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2N2_vsbUwdiLqEXmEKNa-vyISLCaBtZLMkQBOUUSCUeCKvLmmK6dnH5mLzaM4CIeXfkPE_ys_bLXCzgmSO0bIoha1u4hucLzVcUImSR_mUmSfZjZWernMEQhixJU_HNLgu4l379W2u-A/s1600/BeFunky+Collage+squiz.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2N2_vsbUwdiLqEXmEKNa-vyISLCaBtZLMkQBOUUSCUeCKvLmmK6dnH5mLzaM4CIeXfkPE_ys_bLXCzgmSO0bIoha1u4hucLzVcUImSR_mUmSfZjZWernMEQhixJU_HNLgu4l379W2u-A/s400/BeFunky+Collage+squiz.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This cosplay isn't canon but it's just a fun one and I think pretty accurate for the character. The ears are felt stitched over an Alice band and the earrings are made from polymer clay and painted. (It was easier for me to get them a decent, not tacky lookingcolour that way, I know you can use coloured polymer clay).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That wasn't all I did though. I finally sewed my boot covers for Glitter Lucky as well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
They still need pink toes, heels and cuffs added, plus the little ribbons on the front, but they're looking pretty good so far and I want to focus on the dress for a while. I'll be making that as a skirt and top combo though so it's a bit more comfortable.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I still have a lot I wanted to work on today, like a motivational plaque for a gift and some badger themed postcards to send out to the April birthdays in my virtual running club. (Hogwarts Running Club. I'm a Hufflepuff. Get it?)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So far all I've managed to do is cut the cardstock to size and dig out a badger stamp for the postcards. Hopefully I'll get to work on them properly tomorrow though.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That's about all for this week but I'm currently training for a big run next Sunday so next week might not have a lot of exciting stuff in. I'm sure I'll think of something to bring you all, I just don't know what yet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In the meantime, if there's anything specific you guys want to see, mention it on my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/BeckitsBoutique/">Facebook</a> page! If you want certain tutorials or more detailed shots of my cosplay progress, reviews, shopping tips, you name it.</div>

<br />
<a href="https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/v/t1.0-9/12494789_1124695664260517_4174325330923688754_n.jpg?oh=d670ce36eb6db5643ff7b22192b665d3&oe=577A92E7" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="192" src="https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/v/t1.0-9/12494789_1124695664260517_4174325330923688754_n.jpg?oh=d670ce36eb6db5643ff7b22192b665d3&oe=577A92E7" width="320" /></a>So lately I've been having some difficulties but they all seem to be worked out now and I'm using my daily planner to keep motivated as well as organised using helpful, colourful little stickers. This is what a week of mine looks like. I'm a busy girl even outside of my day job. But I shouldn't be letting my projects and the things that make me happy sit on the sidelines and believe it or not, this blog is actually really important to me. I just need to know what I want to write every week.<br />
<br />
So here's what I'm going to do.<br />
<br />
After this post, I'm going to cut back to making entries once a week and keep those regular. On weekends, when I'm actually going to be home and have time to do them. This will mean no more Workdesk Wednesday but that doesn't mean I won't be crafting at least once I week. I need to, I have some big plans for this year after all. It just means that instead of showing you exactly what I'm doing, when I'm doing it, I'll be delivering longer, more varied content of a better quality, but it'll be delivered less frequently.<br />
<br />
So that this isn't just a super boring re-introductory post though, I have the finished Wonder Woman costume to show you all.<br />
<br />
Towards the end of making the costume I stopped taking progress pictures for two reasons. The first being that I was using the same processes over and over and didn't want to keep repeating what I was posting and the second being that I just didn't have the time. I had to get it finished before I wore it to <a href="http://www.darksidecomics.co.uk/">Dark Side Comics</a> in Chelmsford on 26th March.<br />
<br />
But I got it done, it looked better than I'd thought it would and it got some great comments. Yes I had to keep adjusting the boobies every five minutes and my toes got so cold that I thought they were going to fall off but it was so unbelievably worth it for the reaction it got from people. There was also some excellent photography taken by <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d005_photography/sets/72157664173630493">Joseph Leeder</a>, some of which you can see below!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOboVqyU_W1esdC3jWNwNwOhl_FYeSeDpQPapDDprzMqgdOIdSk-kJ_msghxaqORk4jFw3cG5bYPa_bXgnQAEJifbo9Opg1yrVT4hzJctfrvB-XRLx8Ff9HBYIq7LXbKa2GnxbiCXtEgY/s1600/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="353" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOboVqyU_W1esdC3jWNwNwOhl_FYeSeDpQPapDDprzMqgdOIdSk-kJ_msghxaqORk4jFw3cG5bYPa_bXgnQAEJifbo9Opg1yrVT4hzJctfrvB-XRLx8Ff9HBYIq7LXbKa2GnxbiCXtEgY/s640/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Do not fret! This doesn't mean I'm out of cosplays to make! I've booked my tickets for May's MCM Expo in London and will hopefully be debuting two new cosplays. The first being Squirrel Girl!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy2GlhD0OgIEVu_FQV9EovovC5WRF-AeLHcOFsCQUezYLDDSWmfR9Kr_hSR6Vv7os2nzqTMiF3LNCCeQXdjJJdl8qtq0HRyqJXolevZCmrIB-whaNZytwrsypKBOfyvJAotO6_S-mPVdE/s1600/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="198" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy2GlhD0OgIEVu_FQV9EovovC5WRF-AeLHcOFsCQUezYLDDSWmfR9Kr_hSR6Vv7os2nzqTMiF3LNCCeQXdjJJdl8qtq0HRyqJXolevZCmrIB-whaNZytwrsypKBOfyvJAotO6_S-mPVdE/s400/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'll be doing this with a twist though as I'll be joining a group of other Marvel characters... <b>in pajamas!!!</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This cosplay is complete with the exception of turning up the trousers and the arrival of "Tippy Pillow" my squirrel shaped travel pillow that will have a pink ribbon round it's neck by the time I reach the con on the Sunday. Hopefully I'll get the PJ trousers turned up and be able to try everything on and get some pics of that this weekend. Keep your eyes peeled!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The other cosplay I'm working on for May isn't guarenteed to be finished but is already in progress. I discovered a Netflix original anime called Glitter Force recently and immediately had an overwhelming <b>need </b>to cosplay from it and fulfill my lifelong dream to <b>finally </b>be a magical girl. So this happened:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLH0YSu3YccpQjt-mGYTKOQ_KtMw1zHr2reDHc5Otteq3aEgEWaM09xp_VC7A-rtRhyphenhyphenKcvewzOFlIvkHW5A7adFiLF15v-nzUJWm6cQKAvW9xe2-NM-7QdmmgMgt7R6C4fGCAXdvWBztw/s1600/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLH0YSu3YccpQjt-mGYTKOQ_KtMw1zHr2reDHc5Otteq3aEgEWaM09xp_VC7A-rtRhyphenhyphenKcvewzOFlIvkHW5A7adFiLF15v-nzUJWm6cQKAvW9xe2-NM-7QdmmgMgt7R6C4fGCAXdvWBztw/s640/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And I will be working on it a lot more over the coming weeks. I mean, what am I meant to do when I <b>already </b>have a wig that works, <b>not</b> cosplay it? Psh.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So as you can see, I have been quiet but certainly not given up my goal of doing something crafty at least once a week this year, I have in fact been quite the busy little bee.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I just need to sort out my blogging routine and get a handle on managing it once a week before I start posting more often.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Until next time!</div>

<br />
Here goes.<br />
<br />
So I previously mentioned that one of my friends from work was going to be doing a little fundraiser. That was this weekend and she kindly photographed the stock I'd given her to sell in exchange for a cut of the profit to go towards the fundraising.<br />
<br />
First off, I want to say she did an amazing job with the presentation. I basically gave her a carrier bag full of random bits and pieces and she made it look really nice!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_2a8G1ktXMf56cwhMXALwP-_pbPkdoPS18xI69hLsaooB6kskjLFmHjKxiexbZEZP4ETlssYoG0SK41MYU_ubRU8AwsRHL81kXTUqmln-_4onCJXViJ3Hx_HmHbVZhR1WVcJGPsaUoRM/s1600/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_2a8G1ktXMf56cwhMXALwP-_pbPkdoPS18xI69hLsaooB6kskjLFmHjKxiexbZEZP4ETlssYoG0SK41MYU_ubRU8AwsRHL81kXTUqmln-_4onCJXViJ3Hx_HmHbVZhR1WVcJGPsaUoRM/s640/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is also great for me because it gives me an idea of what might sell should I take it to craft fairs and at what prices. I'm also digging the leaf bowls to display the bracelets and hairclips so I'm thinking of making some display bowls specifically for craft fairs when I can do them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've applied for my provisional license so hopefully this time next year I'll be driving and setting up stalls at craft fairs and markets.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Until then, this has been a great little opportunity to test the waters!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Until next time!</div>

<br />
The shin guards are comfy, the belt fits and the fabric is <i>cut</i>.<br />
<br />
Again, my lovely boyfriend took a photo of me hard at work tonight (definitely not getting carried away or anything...) and the shot below shows me putting a base coat of white paint on all the accessories that were ready for it before I'm able to paint them the actual colours.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPSzHqxhVCjcA1AakmRgzjT9C52omO0SBTb2rFS5d4vTmPCFgT_pF6rZ30g7SzNYktsbeRu-jxgGG2_h-ldM49LwrlWdf-6eNufKol6qp1NVPvrdKKl-SMfzzJJS3H3fu0FIZIiKz0b3w/s1600/%255EBDA131413108B992F070264E5F2DB02604F2CCEA68E759B61C%255Epimgpsh_fullsize_distr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPSzHqxhVCjcA1AakmRgzjT9C52omO0SBTb2rFS5d4vTmPCFgT_pF6rZ30g7SzNYktsbeRu-jxgGG2_h-ldM49LwrlWdf-6eNufKol6qp1NVPvrdKKl-SMfzzJJS3H3fu0FIZIiKz0b3w/s640/%255EBDA131413108B992F070264E5F2DB02604F2CCEA68E759B61C%255Epimgpsh_fullsize_distr.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That was quite early this evening. Since then I've created my own little pattern panels and cut the fabric for the skirt part. The collage below is a compilation of the work I did on Sunday, tonight, how things fit and the references I've used for the skirt.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope you guys like it so far. I'm super proud and having so much fun with it. I can't wait to have another entire day to work on it because it's really starting to take shape and I can't believe it's working.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
I'm still obsessed with the Wonder Woman costume making and spent the whole day on that today since I couldn't spend the day with mum, but I did make her a lovely little card yesterday that she seemed to like.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used some of my Hunkydory die cut toppers that I won a while ago when my letter was featured in a craft magazine. They're really handy when you're struggling for inspiration or your mind is just on other things.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also kept it nice and simple because with such a big topper that's already got foil elements and decoupage, you don't really want to go over the top.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyway, don't forget to spoil your mum, there's still some time left!</div>

<br />
So my friend owns this really awesome comic book shop a couple of towns over from me, it's called <a href="http://www.darksidecomics.co.uk/">Dark Side</a> (and you can visit the website by clicking the name) and I honestly cannot express how very proud of her I am. I literally don't have the words and I always feel awful that I can't buy more to support her business so whenever she has an event happening that I can attend, I go, I dress up and I try and support her that way.<br />
<br />
She has an event coming up. She needs some superheros. I've been itching to try my hand at cosplay armour...<br />
<br />
<i>A monster is made...</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc9R5N4y-zUbfpdwtdeu1FAXfA8P-ohzYUtEbmutyZYbxqrwzQMtsAEYzD1O4g1C26dbU8KCgu5rsUBX-m6OfVGpWFYz2XAqpbgpVqHEUI21cGVo8D08CCYgcaiWjlVZ7qDzbfpjohnsw/s1600/wonder-woman-batman-v-superman1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc9R5N4y-zUbfpdwtdeu1FAXfA8P-ohzYUtEbmutyZYbxqrwzQMtsAEYzD1O4g1C26dbU8KCgu5rsUBX-m6OfVGpWFYz2XAqpbgpVqHEUI21cGVo8D08CCYgcaiWjlVZ7qDzbfpjohnsw/s320/wonder-woman-batman-v-superman1.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<i><br /></i>
<i><br /></i>
I have become obsessed with this project in a span of two days. I have planned it during my only spare time, I got to work on it <b>immediately </b>after realising <i>I already have the wig for that!!</i> So for those of you that were wondering, <b>this</b> is what happens when I get my teeth into a challenging project that I <b>really </b>enjoy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifwRF5SZSAyA553ocXEOUaOnrrqY5aRJ-H6B71I-xjeOlcOsuOTmhUgwxKEY1K_c2OT_0vD_ZugrMPYWQYvWE4jK0q0YoL9jKw3CnDRC6t54ySUrfj68rq0Z5tC5L1Gya52VRGgOvGtzU/s1600/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifwRF5SZSAyA553ocXEOUaOnrrqY5aRJ-H6B71I-xjeOlcOsuOTmhUgwxKEY1K_c2OT_0vD_ZugrMPYWQYvWE4jK0q0YoL9jKw3CnDRC6t54ySUrfj68rq0Z5tC5L1Gya52VRGgOvGtzU/s640/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There's a couple of shots in there from Monday but I didn't want to miss a step of this because I am loving it <b>so </b>much and the shot of me at the table is from tonight so it'll do. I've spent maybe four hours total on this and got a lot done, as you can see.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Let me walk you through the steps quickly;</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<ol>
<li>Blow up balloons until they fit nicely into a bra and tape them into bowls so they stand. (I used the ones you get Christmas puddings in. They <b>always</b> seem to come in handy so I always keep them.)</li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">Papier Mache guys! Papier Mache.</span> <b>Layer it up.</b></li>
<li>Put a bra on the paper/balloon boobies and draw around it.</li>
<li>Deflate balloons and cut along the lines you drew.</li>
<li>Draw around bra on a cereal box.</li>
<li>Cut out and tape the boobies in place. (Yes, I'm going to keep calling them boobies, what else am I meant to call them?)</li>
<li>Check fit before moving on. (Vital step.)</li>
<li>Draw around boobies for additional shaping on breastplate.</li>
<li>Tape in place.</li>
<li>Draw around again for more detail in centre of breastplate.</li>
<li>Tape in place.</li>
</ol>
<div>
This is where I had to stop making the breastplate because I don't get a mannequin to use until tomorrow. So I started on the tiara instead. Steps 12-15 are basically just cutting the basic layers of the tiara out of thicker card (this was an Amazon box) and taping them in place ready to be shaped over an Alice band and covered in Papier Mache before painting and adding details. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<br />
Considering this is only four hours' worth of work, I'm really happy with it. I <b>do </b>only have until the 19th though and I'm not even sure what it's for yet but I am having <b>so much fun</b> so if I don't manage it in time, I may just keep making it for the thrill of it!<br />
<br />
I am <b>guessing </b>every step of this by the way...<br />
<br />
Until next time!<br />

<br />
I haven't really been able to do a lot of crafting this weekend as I'd hoped, things got busier than expected, so the only thing I got to make was for an upcoming something and I can't show you yet in case it spoils the surprise for the recipients. No spoilers!<br />
<br />
So I'm going to share with you some items I made a few weeks back because I'm pretty proud of the fact that I taught myself to knit using Youtube tutorials and how to read knitting patterns by just guessing it, in a single day.<br />
<br />
First I followed the pattern exactly and made this cute little ear warmer, it's a beginner's pattern but I had <b>just</b> taught myself that day so I'm okay with the fact it's simple.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvhUOP2UiuLeZYd-8CqMN6mncd4qxdhT55mK-9PCsJhs_2l1KhHRfHbuGNjFo8lbvVUa3Izrz4EICs_AfzB2059BPvm_EwePqfO7PNKMVG3po_ANfJRSvcIKsHl-PiR6hTwUZ3xxdybUI/s1600/12552522_537331123096605_6038287417855590592_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvhUOP2UiuLeZYd-8CqMN6mncd4qxdhT55mK-9PCsJhs_2l1KhHRfHbuGNjFo8lbvVUa3Izrz4EICs_AfzB2059BPvm_EwePqfO7PNKMVG3po_ANfJRSvcIKsHl-PiR6hTwUZ3xxdybUI/s400/12552522_537331123096605_6038287417855590592_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5CkeoNHeKTwouNafVoxB7Kh0jQNyk19sXoBV79LLCyE8C-69ba1NLIp_6AJDZ3ZouljyEh48M2_BDu2TUyltZtI-gUn4EM1U7yKffV5zWkN1-7bgeTwCHUN1AczHXsu14HVqYguTKj9o/s1600/12669439_537552316407819_478481874847918379_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5CkeoNHeKTwouNafVoxB7Kh0jQNyk19sXoBV79LLCyE8C-69ba1NLIp_6AJDZ3ZouljyEh48M2_BDu2TUyltZtI-gUn4EM1U7yKffV5zWkN1-7bgeTwCHUN1AczHXsu14HVqYguTKj9o/s200/12669439_537552316407819_478481874847918379_n.jpg" width="120" /></a>Especially since I then modified that pattern (in a <b>very simple </b>way... I halved the amount of stitches...) the next day to be able to practice a bit more but finish something off more quickly. I ended up with a cute little wrist cuff that I actually prefer to the ear warmer and plan to make more of. I haven't had a chance since then to try any other knitting patterns but I do hope to in the near future, when I get a little bit of time to myself, because I feel like it's a great skill to learn and truth be told, I want to knit myself so many snuggly jumpers when I've practiced and learned enough... Until then I will have to keep practicing the simple knit stitch on it's own. Maybe I'll make a scarf or something.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyway, I think I'm off for an early-ish night.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Until next time!</div>

I'm sorry, my dayjob's been mental so I've been tired so posts may be sporadic or short or just plain weird for a little while.<br />
<br />
But, it's Workdesk Wednesday and I really do want to try and keep on track with this blog so here goes.<br />
<br />
I'm working on some stock for a fundraiser coming up that one of my friends from work is doing and it prompted me to dig out an unfinished project from ages ago... <b>Geeky hair clips!</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
Most of the hairclips I'd planned are finished but for some reason I just sort of <i>stopped</i> halfway through making a batch of Yodas.<br />
<br />
I found them though! And some of them have faces which will help me remember/work out the design I'd got going.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkcvUIu8Y-QWn5WEMqrrE_6GKIlRAz1w3i7TxcwGErcM-LJCED5WqFC2QksMzLEYrYm0uCAh-2mEqc2imvETnORyIDGJveyJ21251OsNJ6yCPmKuLpTNtIjh0kciEUmFzgfKJOqWNRSOk/s1600/Yoda.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="384" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkcvUIu8Y-QWn5WEMqrrE_6GKIlRAz1w3i7TxcwGErcM-LJCED5WqFC2QksMzLEYrYm0uCAh-2mEqc2imvETnORyIDGJveyJ21251OsNJ6yCPmKuLpTNtIjh0kciEUmFzgfKJOqWNRSOk/s640/Yoda.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I no longer have the exact shade of thread I used for those first two but I found a similar one, so hopefully they'll still look consistant. I only really had the time to dig these out and do the prep for the project (i.e. matching the thread, finding the right size needle, etc) tonight so just the one photo but I am actually at home this weekend so hopefully I'll get a chance to do quite a bit of crafting then!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Until next time!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />Beckithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517112963948554828noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25916133852976144.post-88919885566227770112016-02-14T13:41:00.000-08:002016-02-14T13:41:11.072-08:00VDay Is Upon Us!Yo!<br />
<br />
So it's Valentine's Day, which means over-exaggerated, mushy, expertly planned, generic, "spontaneous" gestures of romance.<br />
<br />
I moan because I understand it's a <b>gross commercialisation </b>of a holiday but I do <b>love </b>an excuse to spoil the people I adore. So I do still celebrate it. And I had a lovely evening, thank you very much.<br />
<br />
<b>Anyway.</b> Like all holidays, it's a great way to get motivated and pull out the card making supplies. Gotta treat my boy like a king if he's gonna treat me like a queen, right? And as most of the people reading this blog will know, I am quite the fangirl. And as most fangirls do, I <b>ship</b> things.<br />
<br />
Allow me to explain for those that don't understand or aren't involved in fandom activities. Or better yet, here's a song from <i>Not Literally</i> that pretty much sums up the whole thing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe width="320" height="266" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/LCDgJiPBxfI/0.jpg" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/LCDgJiPBxfI?feature=player_embedded" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Okay, I don't follow every example in the song, but I do a lot of shipping. And my man's well aware of it, so this year's Valentine's card was like a little inside joke/an homage to my <i>ever so slightly </i>crazy side.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The funny thing is, most of the elements on this card were recycled from one I bought for last year's Father's Day. I found out my sister and I bought the same one at the same time because our ex-navy dad loves all things nautical. We then discovered he'd got the same one for <b>his</b> dad. Great minds, huh?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So rather than let it go to waste, I found a little sailboat topper, some wave paper and let the card build up from there.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It got a smile from the boy, so I'm going to call that a win.</div>

<br />
And actually, I've had the same thing on my workdesk all week this week, because since Monday I've really enjoyed going through some of those old photos and preparing pretty pages for my scrapbook. I took photos of each page I've done this week so that I can post the pages in the order I create them, before tonight I'd already done the three pictured below.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8W8Ajyv4EoLiHdxV0fKDD25v5W6Wcc3Ss4TXAc6AwC2myk81dUIClcly9_rTktY4RlcqUUITGxcB-DS0uQ2yUipRtySm81wcno_C5IqpfKhDf3fXKjrWz6HQWBmzA48punlAUPICKeck/s1600/BeFunky+Collage1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8W8Ajyv4EoLiHdxV0fKDD25v5W6Wcc3Ss4TXAc6AwC2myk81dUIClcly9_rTktY4RlcqUUITGxcB-DS0uQ2yUipRtySm81wcno_C5IqpfKhDf3fXKjrWz6HQWBmzA48punlAUPICKeck/s640/BeFunky+Collage1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
It's actually really nice to be able to do quick, small projects, like single pages, that make up part of one, much larger project, like the whole scrapbook. It means I can come away from crafting without feeling like I have an unfinished item and without feeling bad for not being able to add to what I've done. Win,win!<br />
<br />
Tonight's workdesk was a nice, bright page to show off the special bond Jedward had with my mum. You can see from the photos below what the process is for me creating a page.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgD71xqE4Cj7d726sasvWwxt49akM3lotVyf1w3bil4O0wqyHewEgeWQ1Qbhyphenhyphengne6KijX8hjlah5mKtEANp7BTB-55IpI_QQW6SE-dZgfQmNejW-8wYQtoceVs_kq2UjV2EbPf59Nmh5Gw/s1600/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="432" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgD71xqE4Cj7d726sasvWwxt49akM3lotVyf1w3bil4O0wqyHewEgeWQ1Qbhyphenhyphengne6KijX8hjlah5mKtEANp7BTB-55IpI_QQW6SE-dZgfQmNejW-8wYQtoceVs_kq2UjV2EbPf59Nmh5Gw/s640/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The right hand side of the above sort of shows my process. Picking what I want to work on, choosing the photo and colours and then getting an idea of the layout I want to go for. After that I just kind of wing it. I didn't use the little bunting strip in the end, but that's okay because I'm thinking of saving it for the next birthday page I do.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Until next time!</div>

<br />
Today marks a year since I lost my first guinea pig, Jedward. She may have been a little pet but she had a massive personality and obviously I've been thinking about her a lot lately.<br />
<br />
It's important to me to revisit my happy memories without having to use a computer, regardless of their subject matter and a few years ago I started a scrapbook for Jedward that I haven't really entered into much. I made the cover and the first page before I even moved out but the second page I didn't create until a little while after I lost her. Sometimes it's difficult for me to craft things that are so personal to me but even though it makes me sad that she's gone, it's nice to relive those fun times by creating cute layouts and making her a tribute fit for the diva she was.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8mFmlRMJHf6xx6PzFC7YG51RU6P3YvQoinriwWTYmdEEedUV__HyMoSe8oVN3qxp5tZVxVv8QhixevUBUGgSw5nblmA0ZncEvBcz8xujdruodokufx4za5ZQrNG8K-WrgYDvVci-8qTI/s1600/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="396" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8mFmlRMJHf6xx6PzFC7YG51RU6P3YvQoinriwWTYmdEEedUV__HyMoSe8oVN3qxp5tZVxVv8QhixevUBUGgSw5nblmA0ZncEvBcz8xujdruodokufx4za5ZQrNG8K-WrgYDvVci-8qTI/s640/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The polaroid style prints were a birthday present last year and I love them. I use photo corners so that I can take them out of the scrapbook at any time if I want to but as I include an image, I'm writing the dates at the bottom, just because sometimes it's nice to see just how long ago something happened when you reminisce.<br />
<br />
Hopefully, now that there's more time between the initial heartbreak and now, I'll be able to add to this scrapbook a little more often and enjoy some more trips down memory lane.<br />
<br />
I hope this wasn't too much of a downer for you folks because making this actually made me a lot happier this evening and I'm really pleased with how the layout turned out. I need to get photo prints for Eclipse so I can work on hers as well and it's reminded me to make sure I take as many pictures as I can of the below three cuties. I will always have pets and these scrapbooks are the nicest way I can honour them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk63rNhUAcTYE3_K6AGlV_9ripztso0qwdYRVg-7un_MMbJRNfvJ4mXW_vSzdsr2abv5nGhBgGxu7hlaAqMZ-EIEO-TDNWQcgwRLLfPiNaWJiRB_IxnWNTMVhsoHppyqea8tszgUWfwFY/s1600/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="132" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk63rNhUAcTYE3_K6AGlV_9ripztso0qwdYRVg-7un_MMbJRNfvJ4mXW_vSzdsr2abv5nGhBgGxu7hlaAqMZ-EIEO-TDNWQcgwRLLfPiNaWJiRB_IxnWNTMVhsoHppyqea8tszgUWfwFY/s400/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="text-align: center;">Every moment is precious, whether it's with a pet, a person or just a pleasant moment or place in time, so treasure them and if there's not enough space on your walls for that many framed photos, still print them out, make an album or a scrapbook. Turning pages is a lot nicer than clicking a next button.</span><br />
<span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span>
<span style="text-align: center;">Until next time.</span><br />

And we're kind of back to where we started because I haven't had a chance to do anything more with that Sailor Moon applique project since my very first Workdesk Wednesday two weeks ago. <b>Until now...</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
It's going to be a short one though because it's already late and I'm pretty tired so it's like quick overview time type thing. Yeah.<br />
<br />
Since I'd done most of the prepwork last time I was able to trace my design using baking paper to make my templates, it's a nice, cheap alternative to actual tracing paper that you're bound to have lying about the house and it works just as well. I drew around those onto the felt I was using and then managed to stitch the first layer of felt onto one of the hoops tonight.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqbntsbl7kspw1se558Rjc_esQDpKoiNhnc7sWFDkv4PBYrDvZC1C4YvoRHxBBe1xH-fB-OcMMvwrVOK7194taqSH4uCALIjMFW3mvzxJuNFunbX1um7Tw-zV6oXi5mnX5oscEezERsPY/s1600/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqbntsbl7kspw1se558Rjc_esQDpKoiNhnc7sWFDkv4PBYrDvZC1C4YvoRHxBBe1xH-fB-OcMMvwrVOK7194taqSH4uCALIjMFW3mvzxJuNFunbX1um7Tw-zV6oXi5mnX5oscEezERsPY/s640/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next time I get to work on these I'll be sewing that second hoop, cutting the next layer of felt and stitching all of that down before it's time to add the gems and beads as the finishing touches and then neaten up the back so they're ready to hang up or sell.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
With so many birthdays and special occasions happening straight after Christmas, I've been kept pretty busy, so I've still got quite a lot of items made and photos stockpiled to share with you on Sundays in between those Workdesk Wednesdays.<br />
<br />
This week I want to share with you my mum's birthday card and gift, since that was last Monday so I couldn't post it last Sunday without risk of her seeing. I had previously bought her a nice card, thinking I wouldn't have the time to make her one, but grew increasingly frustrated with myself because let's face it, when you're known for being a crafter and you have a flair for making things, you want to give everyone you love a special, homemade card.<br />
<br />
So I got <b>super</b> carried away that Saturday making up for my previous laziness by creating her card to match the wrapping for her gift and make it really special before I handed it over to her that evening when I saw her.<br />
<br />
There's something very satisfying about matching sets or collections for me, so I used the wrapping paper in the actual design of the card and then embellished the inside where I wrote my message and the envelope. Which is another thing I've been doing lately. Not just decorating the insides of the cards I make but using really nice, practiced lettering on the envelopes. I like the feel it gives them, it makes them stand out and seem just a bit more spectacular.<br />
<br />
I do love to give it the ole' Razzle Dazzle after all.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_O9ImidwTbbFanxjNlFGcnaNvUsGS1PY8_1XCKzsEiVf4INO3V6FnwIzRV_PoHAeeRkzc3w7WUbsd3yKmaFY5Pj46xbFHmK7umOX_IZhvY3pvB_J5yeU9GYy44E91nfY75DyS3JrYD24/s1600/Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="454" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_O9ImidwTbbFanxjNlFGcnaNvUsGS1PY8_1XCKzsEiVf4INO3V6FnwIzRV_PoHAeeRkzc3w7WUbsd3yKmaFY5Pj46xbFHmK7umOX_IZhvY3pvB_J5yeU9GYy44E91nfY75DyS3JrYD24/s640/Collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
As you can see, there's a definite butterfly theme going on. I liked the golden brown and had some nice gold ribbon that went well, that is literally the whole inspiration that set me on a crafting rampage. I even forgot to eat lunch that day I got so into it. Totally worth it though, I mean how fabulous does this little lot look?!<br />
<br />
Until next time!<br />

Happy Humpday for all you busy bees counting down to the weekend and happy Workdesk Wednesday to everyone that actually enjoys these posts! Hooray!<br />
<br />
This week I was told <b>very short notice</b> by the boyfriend that the birthday party that was previously just "being thought about" for his nan was in fact happening. This Saturday. And he didn't know what to buy as a gift. And she's turning 80. So it's a special one. Boys, huh?<br />
<br />
Beckit to the rescue though, spending lunch breaks rushing around town, looking for gifts and finding something lovely and then using her Wednesday evening crafting time to make a pretty card to match. I'm waiting for some glue to dry at the moment so I thought I'd post this entry now and then show you guys the finished product another time. I've included a picture of the present which is what I'm using for the inspiration behind it because we're pretty sure she's not likely to see my blog.<br />
<br />
Just in case though; <b>SPOILER ALERT!</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHoADGdzBzYna9fpgB2HASC_4OhYjZxoL_rv-zCRIG5dDfrd6d0Zfo5o02s7ljoCsrHzwfC7JspAbtezdMy4hoJ3-ZhwbSNsE1BO9RK4_PPLASIkhW2B-2LDDz4S287SYGg6fdMsco-eI/s1600/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHoADGdzBzYna9fpgB2HASC_4OhYjZxoL_rv-zCRIG5dDfrd6d0Zfo5o02s7ljoCsrHzwfC7JspAbtezdMy4hoJ3-ZhwbSNsE1BO9RK4_PPLASIkhW2B-2LDDz4S287SYGg6fdMsco-eI/s320/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My Tattered Lace die was a wonderful match for the peacock on the compact mirror so although it means his nan's card will share a similar feature to <b>my </b>nan's card, I'm hoping to still make it pretty special by making the rest of the card very different.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've coloured the chipboard numbers with the silver marker, as I did with the 90, since the bold, bright patterns just really don't go well with the style of cards I tend to make. They're lovely, I just tend to stick with more simple designs because I work best with them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've tried to co-ordinate the colours as best I can so they match the compact and once the peacock has dried against its backing I'll cut it out, add it to the card and put some bright gems on it so it really pops.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I like how the card is going so far but I still hope it turns out okay. Oh, and then I need to start work on another one because he didn't know what to do for them either. <i>What am I going to do with that boy?</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Maybe we'll see next time! Until then!</div>

<br />
You may have noticed that I'm posting this rather late at night. Well that's because my nanny turned 90 years old this week and I spent the day down in Sussex to celebrate it with her. Which meant not getting home until 10pm after a two and a half hour car journey and although I don't drive, travelling takes a lot out of me and I still had all the pets and my lunch for tomorrow to sort before I could sit down and make a blog post so I am <b>tired.</b> I have 20mins until bed though so I can still get this blog posted on schedule. Sundays and Wednesdays so far seem to be the best days for me to post, so I want to at least keep those two days going. Let's do this!<br />
<br />
Right. So. Obviously with such a special birthday, I wanted to make a special birthday card, which meant digging through my chipboard numbers for the right digits, plenty of sparkly bits and I even used calligraphy when I wrote inside the card and on the envelope, so it all looked lovely. It also means I'm learning calligraphy which I think will come in very handy with all my crafting.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAttp7J8VmILsEyLXJbRvNHUn6qJCtWM2SERXU_9BJZFNsRVrjR47oF7dkFuCGGhR27SPReZ1qGyiYuPSfFIT6hrcDaiumrONQUxuzThdEv6OTlNcyCOVF5klRZ54JErRwvZFR-3QvpE0/s1600/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAttp7J8VmILsEyLXJbRvNHUn6qJCtWM2SERXU_9BJZFNsRVrjR47oF7dkFuCGGhR27SPReZ1qGyiYuPSfFIT6hrcDaiumrONQUxuzThdEv6OTlNcyCOVF5klRZ54JErRwvZFR-3QvpE0/s640/BeFunky+Collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I decided to stick to pastel colours and make it nice and delicate because she's quite a feminine lady and I didn't want to make it too bright and childish or too dark and neutral, I wanted to keep it special.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The peacock is a Tattered Lace die that I used in my Cuttlebug (haven't been able to dig that out for ages so that was good fun) and then trimmed to fit the card a bit better since the tail is huge. Beautiful but huge. The flowers were made with a punch and an embossing tool and then tipped with silver marker.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've also started putting patterned papers inside my cards because a) it's nicer to write on and b) it just gives the whole thing a much nicer finish. Particularly when you add a little extra detail like the punched out flower with a little gem in it. I really liked that.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That's it for tonight though because I'm about to fall asleep at my desk. I can however show off my new signature on the blog and point out that if you hadn't already noticed, the whole blog looks <i>different. </i>I've updated the colour scheme and banner to match my new logo and I've got to admit, I'm loving the new look and pretty chuffed with myself for creating that banner and designing the flourishes on it <b>all by myself.</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Yeah, that's right. I can do design stuff too. (Kind of, not really, but at least the blog looks good now.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Until next time!</div>

<br />
So this is a neat feature I came up with for this year to <b>keep me crafting.</b> Basically it's just a little update once a week with a project that I'm working on that day. Which means I <b>have </b>to do at least a tiny bit of crafting or prep for crafting at the very least, every single week.<br />
<br />
This is great for two reasons.<br />
<br />
<ol>
<li>I get to set aside some time for myself each week to enjoy my own hobby, which I haven't allowed myself properly since moving out.</li>
<li>There'll be some more interesting content for you guys reading and it'll bring you a bit of variety since it won't <b>just</b> be finished pieces, you'll be seeing WIPs too.</li>
</ol>
<div>
Like today. Today is a WIP, mainly because I've only had enough time to do some prep before writing this blog entry so that I can get it posted in time. But that's cool because I can continue work on it after I post this and it may be a finished product in a future update or still a WIP next Wednesday, depending on what I decide to make in the meantime.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So Workdesk Wednesday this week (heehee, first WW!) is the set up of a project that I've actually been planning for quite some time but only just got round to starting.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
As a kid I loved the show Sailor Moon, as I'm pretty sure most of my friends did, and when Sailor Moon Crystal came out more recently I was desperate to make some moonie goodies. The first one being this lovely little two piece set of embroidery hoops!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaFIVAdq-DaKiL1HVukt0dgtVc8VeKYMqScXfLDxqI3_9K-Dnz-wFKaIeWDKKhXGoFP8_XMJJczAS6DKLDXol6QAbC4kV4qSMOrcx2z6v7UNgjzxmyLG9_V9J16cNttigycsObdiVlY3A/s1600/BeFunky+Collage+Moon1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="482" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaFIVAdq-DaKiL1HVukt0dgtVc8VeKYMqScXfLDxqI3_9K-Dnz-wFKaIeWDKKhXGoFP8_XMJJczAS6DKLDXol6QAbC4kV4qSMOrcx2z6v7UNgjzxmyLG9_V9J16cNttigycsObdiVlY3A/s640/BeFunky+Collage+Moon1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
As you can tell from my sketches in some of the shots (which will be traced to make templates for the felt I'll be using for the applique) they're going to be transformed (eventually) into the inside and outside of Sailor Moon's compact.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm hoping to upcycle some crystals I took off a tacky old chandelier that came with the bedroom when we moved in (the frame went to my sister, I just wanted all the sparklies) and maybe some beads or buttons from my stash but it does depend on how well they'll fit into the design at this size, so we'll see.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I've been really looking forward to making these so hopefully there'll be updates more frequently than just Wednesdays and Sundays but I'm not 100% on all the features I want to do yet, so I guess we'll all have to wait and see. Even me.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Hope you guys are excited to see how these turn out because I sure am. I'll keep you all posted anyway.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Until next time!</div>

I hope you had a great holiday season and that you're ready and raring to go with all your plans for 2016.<br />
<br />
Mine started right here, with a daytrip to Ikea and a weekend of building and organising this beautiful new desk so that I'm able to <b>comfortably </b>indulge my creative side with all my crafting.<br />
<br />
I'm not doing any new year's resolutions but I am hoping to keep this blog updated a lot more now that I can get a fresh start, so watch this space for some cool little features beginning to pop up over the next month or so. I have tonnes planned, including a brand new look for the blog. I wanted to wait to post my first entry this year until that new look was up and running but it's not quite ready yet and the new year is fading into the distance fast. Where does the time go, eh?<br />
<br />
Anywho, I'll get straight to it. I never showed you guys my workdesk when I moved out a couple of years ago, so here's what it looked like (except <b>way</b> more cluttered most of the time)...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVuQcio4GMvrEcGYG-ufN0X_4dzfnvkLXrJ2Mh5WTBK_iSJwtk2jo4SoYKQQYXrFesTUCAOzlHJ3MKN1r5lmgjHEVLp6Kugb-BHaWOsqLdFO5rZ-PjRUVs-y0AEO8ruslNTzYlMzU-tv8/s1600/BeFunky+Collage+Old+Desk.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVuQcio4GMvrEcGYG-ufN0X_4dzfnvkLXrJ2Mh5WTBK_iSJwtk2jo4SoYKQQYXrFesTUCAOzlHJ3MKN1r5lmgjHEVLp6Kugb-BHaWOsqLdFO5rZ-PjRUVs-y0AEO8ruslNTzYlMzU-tv8/s320/BeFunky+Collage+Old+Desk.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This was when I first moved out and hadn't collected a bunch of sewing supplies, etc. I've accumulated a lot over the last two years, including a brand new sewing machine I got for Christmas this past year. So I definitely needed a less cramped craft corner.<br />
<br />
Plus it was pretty lonely sat in the bedroom by myself crafting when the boyfriend was in the living room playing video games. I like company.<br />
<br />
Enter plans to refurnish the living room! (Which looks fantastic by the way, I'll get some pictures when it's all done to show you.) But for now, you'll have to make do with <b>this beauty!!</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIun2Pok8TX4nxgPaZLGjtOHw_mZdlWUl9-wrvGOQPAnUWEEKE4GsRde-VRNSNV_NcFgNpITymMh6V2jqoC5II7RshZGx48pR9MFPmYf2CWdb5qfHVsCz1hP1yRw0Hqh0cULD9T5J7WTU/s1600/BeFunky+Collage+New+Desk.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIun2Pok8TX4nxgPaZLGjtOHw_mZdlWUl9-wrvGOQPAnUWEEKE4GsRde-VRNSNV_NcFgNpITymMh6V2jqoC5II7RshZGx48pR9MFPmYf2CWdb5qfHVsCz1hP1yRw0Hqh0cULD9T5J7WTU/s640/BeFunky+Collage+New+Desk.jpg" width="414" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The main "everyday" desk is the glorious little Micke from Ikea and the gateleg Norden table, also Ikea (pretty much my whole living room is now), works as my new sewing table/dinner table (I love multi-purpose furniture! And yes those are my dining chairs hanging off the wall next to it, I kinda love that small-space-living vibe) and folds away when not in use so that we have <b>huge </b>amounts of floor space. Seriously, it's like we gained an entire room and we're not done packing stuff away yet. What even?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There's still a few tiny additions I'm waiting on to add to the main desk. I have some magnetic hooks coming that will be stuck to the backboard behind the monitor and will hold my embroidery hoops, double sided tape and jewellery elastic and I need some more CD cases to finish moving over my stamps from an old binder that's falling apart.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As you can see, all my storage is in clear plastic. I did this not because it's my favourite but because it's the easiest thing to keep consistant regardless of where you buy the storage from, no specific ranges to try and manipulate for use for everything. I did however label all the storage using a gold permanent marker so that it kind of feels fancy without being over the top.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you'd like a more in depth tour of what I have in and on my desk, such as tools, colouring equipment and materials, or if you want reviews of that sort of thing let me know in the comments below or on my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/BeckitsBoutique/">Facebook</a>. This year I want to share with you guys the things that <b>you </b>want to see, as well as what I've been working on in general and I'm going to try and be a lot more active and entertaining for you guys, so don't be afraid to ask for what you're interested in, I <b>want</b> to hear from you!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Until next time!</div>

<br />
There was a little bit of advanced planning, I'll admit, but for the most part it was all down to an idea I got while looking at other people's craft rooms to come up with some storage solutions for my tiny corner of the bedroom where I do most of my work. I saw some memo hangers and decided, you know what, I could probably make a nice, <b>big </b>one with that old frame I've got knocking about. So I did. And here's how you can make one too!<br />
<br />
<br />
<u><b>You Will Need:</b></u><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>A large wooden picture frame without glass - This one was second hand for £2 in a charity shop and didn't have glass to begin with, just an old painting that I removed, but if you struggle to find one second hand, you can usually remove the glass from newer frames too. (Just be very careful as you do it!)</li>
<li>Emulsion paint tester pots - £1 each in Wilkinsons</li>
<li>Multi Mesh - £4 in Wilkinsons</li>
<li>Wooden clothes pegs - 60p for 36 in Wilkinsons </li>
<li>Sandpaper - If you don't already have any you can buy this in Wilkinsons for £1 a pack with 10 sheets included.</li>
<li>Decorating paint brushes - If you don't already have these, Wilkinsons currently have them in packs of 5 for £2</li>
<li>Stapler/staple gun, scissors and glue.</li>
<li>Any additional embellishments you would like to use on the pegs. (Mine won't be decorated until a later date but you can look forward to that post in the future if you're stuck for inspiration!)</li>
</ul>
<div>
<b><u>The How To:</u></b></div>
<div>
<ol>
<li>Sand the frame gently all over with a sheet of medium grade sandpaper and paint the entire frame in the first coat of your base colour. I have chosen "Soft Cream", number 177 from the <i>Wilko </i>range. - Don't forget to lay newspaper or an old sheet down first!</li>
<li>After allowing the first coat to dry, add another coat in the same colour to get a nice, even covering and then leave it to dry again.</li>
<li>Once dry, add a single coat of your second colour paint, this one is "Sweetie", number 401 from the <i>Wilko </i>range. - Try and make the coat even but if there are a few patches, don't worry too much about them as they'll be distressed later. Again, leave the frame to dry.</li>
<li>Use the medium grade sandpaper to distress ares of the frame, you can go right down to the wood for a more shabby-chic look if you like, as I have here.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1LuXzMq0DAcv5OqrOsOtAgbSJBQLfqBytMyq0XxRCRm-b4S1ju4ZtdZlmzf7Pu61tUadKT9KSC9QSANwGI38W5xLemi2zYGvoiA063WwDU316rPvAlyCic9qxMCGRlHWctI5TEC7bL6Y/s1600/Collage+Steps+1-4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1LuXzMq0DAcv5OqrOsOtAgbSJBQLfqBytMyq0XxRCRm-b4S1ju4ZtdZlmzf7Pu61tUadKT9KSC9QSANwGI38W5xLemi2zYGvoiA063WwDU316rPvAlyCic9qxMCGRlHWctI5TEC7bL6Y/s1600/Collage+Steps+1-4.jpg" height="241" width="640" /></a></div>
</li>
<li>Turn the frame over and roll the Multi Mesh over the back of it, leaving some overhang. - This makes the next step easier and will be tidied up later.</li>
<li>Staple the Multi Mesh down all around the frame, you can do this with a normal stapler opened out, as I have, but this is very hard and tedious work so if you have got a staple gun, you would definitely be much better off using that instead. - I will probably re-do my staples when I can get hold of one, as they will then be much stronger and more secure.</li>
<li>Trim the edges of the Multi Mesh so that none shows around the frame, ensuring your staples will remain secure and the mesh won't slip out underneath them.</li>
<li>If your frame doesn't have a method of hanging already attached, as with mine, determine your hanging method and attach it to the frame as appropriate.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</li>
<li>Use wooden clothes pegs to clip notes, pictures and odd scraps for inspiration to the board. You can even decorate the pegs to match!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<b><u>Top Tips:</u></b></div>
</div>
<div>
<ul>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8hKXUZ-sQDbCqb9nO29fHGiMtFV-7Gg2h6R6wNoFIQJkEUYiCTBm-Ux6bb9cMZXNpAnoDm9iQOVav6z0O2d_4FtT955FrHw7F8ujsx_s4NhUBw6aezcKVa9uJXK94AOVqknXU_a6D9zo/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8hKXUZ-sQDbCqb9nO29fHGiMtFV-7Gg2h6R6wNoFIQJkEUYiCTBm-Ux6bb9cMZXNpAnoDm9iQOVav6z0O2d_4FtT955FrHw7F8ujsx_s4NhUBw6aezcKVa9uJXK94AOVqknXU_a6D9zo/s1600/002.JPG" height="400" width="225" /></a>
<li>If you decide to add embellishments to the frame itself, try not to add too many as it could make the frame look <i>over</i> decorated. - Why not embellish your pegs instead?!</li>
<li>Choose a smaller grid of mesh to give you more options on where you can peg your items.</li>
<li>Choose coordinating colours for your paints, remember that you want your base colour to show through your top coat..</li>
<li>If green mesh doesn't coordinate well with your decor, you can upgrade to wire mesh for £1 extra, still in Wilkinsons. - I got lucky in that my planned colour scheme goes nicely with garden supplies.</li>
<li>Don't throw away your leftover mesh! (And you're <i>bound</i> to have some extra.) You never know what it could come in handy for and it rolls up nicely for storage. - My remaining mesh is going to become an easy to store guinea pig run!</li>
<li>Keep spare pegs at the top of the board in case you want to add extra tidbits of inspiration later, that way you'll always be able to find them when you need them!</li>
<li>You can do this on a smaller scale with a smaller frame if you like, to save space on a mini version just buy some mini pegs, you can find these in a lot of craft stores, but funnily enough Wilkinsons sell them quite cheaply! <a href="http://www.wilko.com/camper-stationery/wilko-camper-mini-pegs-in-jar/invt/0346056?VBMST=mini%20pegs">This jar</a> is one that I have lined up for another project and the jar would make some adorable storage once you've used up all the pegs!</li>
</ul>
<div>
That's all for now but I have <b>loads </b>of projects I'm working on at the moment, most of them I can't yet post but hopefully I'll be able to do some mini projects when waiting for bits to dry on my main works that I'll be able to show you and get this blog a bit more active. I do miss posting regularly.</div>

<div>
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the tutorial, like my finished piece and give it a go yourself, I'd <b>love</b> to see your interpretations!</div>

Ta ta for now!</div>

So that's exactly how I decided to create a huge "thank you" to my mum, to show her how grateful I am for the incredible amount of help and support she gave me when I was moving out and continues to give me every day<br />
<br />
My mum is amazing. I know everyone thinks that about their mum but I honestly can't stress how truly inspiring my mother is to me. She raised two daughters (one of them being particularly difficult sometimes, ahem, sorry) alone, with the exception of some babysitting help from her own parents, she works a full time job and she now takes care of my nan these days too. So every now and then, it's just nice to spoil her a bit.<br />
<br />
Mum loves crafting but she's always so busy that she hardly ever gets the chance to do any. And who doesn't love a cup of tea?<br />
<br />
That's how I ended up throwing a surprise thank you party under the guise of crafting with my sister and a friend. Everyone was expecting just the odd mug of tea and a spread of shop bought biscuits.<br />

My <b>mum</b> is coming over and I need <b>everything </b>to be special...<br />
<br />
Time to do some lone crafting to get ready for the day itself!<br />
<br />
I threw together some simple invitations and then I got baking. I baked like I've never baked before in my life. Mainly because I actually haven't. I've never actually baked anything without help before in my life.<br />
<br />
I made scones, I made chocolate chip cookies and I made ginger bread biscuits. Then I made all the finger sandwiches for lunch. After that I decorated. I even managed to get a proper tea set and adorable disposable plates, napkins and a cake stand.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju9f41OSGg9V6GmPGs2RPuTIZpNgrxhAj8HBJsLM9Vg-IBvIIvwv__ynTzFYtijAuqfTiwTnNW39gs_klHFmPaObx1XrRiI60GvlyJjD7nG2dVrFes2plFboLgq7P26fdkY0rJs77jTXk/s1600/Food.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju9f41OSGg9V6GmPGs2RPuTIZpNgrxhAj8HBJsLM9Vg-IBvIIvwv__ynTzFYtijAuqfTiwTnNW39gs_klHFmPaObx1XrRiI60GvlyJjD7nG2dVrFes2plFboLgq7P26fdkY0rJs77jTXk/s1600/Food.jpg" height="476" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Obviously this wasn't all prepared in one day, I did odd bits and pieces after work throughout the week, but still, there was a lot of planning and effort went into this.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6XxNRFMEvz6ne6k2wB5Jfb09icBHVQm-tdnjZ17hlYwFNkfEeNDI1geleTv50j93cK3NRHuw_oR4ZVxU4CaISn80yb5KAEn1aSiGKTSWMhHoN2zaduTdCRn3QElFuoUIlV9SxLextLKo/s1600/Fun.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6XxNRFMEvz6ne6k2wB5Jfb09icBHVQm-tdnjZ17hlYwFNkfEeNDI1geleTv50j93cK3NRHuw_oR4ZVxU4CaISn80yb5KAEn1aSiGKTSWMhHoN2zaduTdCRn3QElFuoUIlV9SxLextLKo/s1600/Fun.jpg" height="211" width="320" /></a>I don't think any of my guests could quite believe it when I served the food. I don't like to brag but I'm pretty sure I make a good hostess. Everyone loved the tea party half of the party. Including me.<br />
<br />
After the food, we moved on to the craftathon I'd promised everyone. Unfortunately I can only show one of the items I worked on as the other is part of a gift that I can't reveal just yet.<br />
<br />
I've taken to making special embroidery hoops though, inspired by the amazing <a href="https://www.facebook.com/loveandasandwichh?fref=ts">Love & a Sandwich</a>, I've only made one before this but I decided to attempt to create a Hunger Games piece. I definitely need more practice, but hey, it's a start.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjU_DGW0zzXJH9n61LGzchZ1qVMJjVqgxXHIpBYK_CY7gS2wv08ouvPWvoCVHWp6ZCCvdumneLEQTSYi8-1mjbZIh8Rl-7o-ofn4dz2lGEP_zrBMHdI7WYV9aVfSMOFaC1yCiHkKrIjxB0/s1600/Hoop.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjU_DGW0zzXJH9n61LGzchZ1qVMJjVqgxXHIpBYK_CY7gS2wv08ouvPWvoCVHWp6ZCCvdumneLEQTSYi8-1mjbZIh8Rl-7o-ofn4dz2lGEP_zrBMHdI7WYV9aVfSMOFaC1yCiHkKrIjxB0/s1600/Hoop.jpg" height="400" width="263" /></a></div>
<br />
All in all, days like this are what crafting is all about for me, it's about making people happy by doing just that little bit extra. Why not try it yourself? You never know, the joy might be contagious, I can't wait for my next craft epidemic.<br />
<br />
